The Chanel was started in 1909 by a French lady named Gabrielle Bonheur Coco Chanel. She was born in the year 1883. After her mother’s death, her father abandoned her and all other 5 children. She had to pass all her childhood and teenage in the orphanage. In the orphanage she learnt to stitch. She set up a millinery shop - Chanel’s first shop – in the year 1909. This was a joint effort of Coco Chanel and her suitor. The effort results as a splendid success. This was the beginning of Chanel history.
It does not take longer to fashionable women to buy and carry Chanel accessories; the hats specially. After accessories, she started working on clothing – women clothing. Chanel’s contribution is considered as revolution in the clothing on world of fashion. The theme of clothing was feeling free and stays comfortable and fashionable at the same time. Coco Chanel herself prefers to be comfortable with clothing rather than just following old norm. She kept the comfort supreme in her collection as well.
Jersey in women fashion was at very first introduce by her. The fabric that was used in clothing gives ease in movement and comfort in wearing; these were the main characteristics of her fashion and clothing and were the main reasons for Chanel’s acceptance as a brand. After the death of lady Coco Chanel, the saddest event of Chanel history, in 1971, Karl Lagerfeld had taken the charge of the chief designer. He, with all his creativity and hard work, kept the store with a higher pace.
Some of the timeless fashions marks of Chanel include bell bottom pants, pea jackets and short black dresses. From that time till this date these are accepted as fashion statements and classics of the fashion.
